Our Camps

DAY CAMP
Camp CaPella offers a day camp service for campers who prefer to be with their families and/or caregivers overnight.  50% of our campers are here at camp all day, arriving at 8:30 am by bus from Bangor or being dropped off by their families or caregivers. They return at the end of the camp day at 4:30 pm.

WEEKLY OVERNIGHT CAMP
Camp CaPella offers weekly overnight camp that makes it possible for campers from all over Maine and beyond to attend camp for the entire week and get to have a different kind of camp experience.

Campers arrive on Sunday evening between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Counselors will meet with the family, get any special instructions on their camper’s care, take inventory of the camper’s belongings, and introduce them to their overnight accommodations.  They’ll help them make their beds and put away their “stuff.” Then the group, about twelve boys and girls, or young men and women, gather to be introduced to the staff, to one another, and to the weekly routine and the 10 camp rules (see the day camp page for the 10 rules). Parents and caregivers depart and say their farewells, and then it’s time for the Pizza Party!

FAMILY VACATION PACKAGE
In collaboration with two area lodging establishments, Camp CaPella is able to offer families a unique opportunity to take a real vacation, something that families with a child with disabilities aren’t able to do that often. This makes it possible for families from outside of the immediate area to come to beautiful mid-coast Maine for the week while their child is also enjoying a safe week at Camp CaPella.

The elegant Lucerne Inn offers families a week’s lodging (Sunday night through Thursday night) for the incredibly low price of $350.00. Here the family can be together for the evenings, the child can attend camp during the day, while the parents can visit such places as Acadia National Park, Belfast, Camden, Rockland, Fort Knox and the Penobscot observatory tower, go sailing on Penobscot Bay, enjoy whale watching out of Bar Harbor, go golfing, or any number of other summertime family adventures.  Or – perhaps just sitting by the Lucerne Inn pool and doing nothing at all!

WINTER DAY CAMP
Camp CaPella offers – on a limited basis – winter day camp opportunity every other Saturday from the end of January to March (when the ice becomes unsafe). From 9 am to 3:30 pm, up to 15 campers can join us for a day of outdoor winter fun.  Such a day usually consists of camp songs, arts and crafts, snowmobiling, ice fishing, sliding on the ice, building snowmen, snow forts – all the usual outdoor winter activities we all did when we were kids.  The winter day camp is very dependent on the weather and ice conditions, however.
